Backing Requirements

Your backing needs to be 4" extra on all sides. For example, if you have a quilt top that is 60" x 80", your backing should measure at least 68" x 88". It can be bigger, not smaller. Extra fees may apply if I need to put extra time and effort into getting your quilt ready to load. If you have questions, please ask!

Get it Ready

Please press your top and backing for me so that it's nice and tidy, and ready for me to load. Please also clip stray threads or raveling fabrics as best as you can. I understand you might not be able to get them all, but we want to prevent dark threads from showing through your quilt top. This is not a step to skip!

Dimensions

Please include the width and height of your quilt top in inches.

Backing

In order to give you the best possible results, please ensure your backing fabric is a total of 8" wider and 8" longer than your quilt top. This gives me at least 4" of margin on each side of the quilt top. Your backing can be larger but not smaller.

I acknowledge my backing fabric meets the minimum size requirement for my quilt top.

Thread Preference

My default preference is to match a neutral thread to the fabrics in your quilt. I currently carry white, cream, tan, light gray, dark gray, and black thread. If you have another color thread in mind, I may be able to purchase it for an additional cost.

Batting

Most of the batting I stock is on a 93" roll. I will use only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + a 5" margin) and charge per inch. For example, if you have a 60" x 80" quilt, I would cut 65" inches of the batting of your choice. • 65" of 100% cotton @ $0.39/in = $25.35 • 65" of 80/20 cotton/poly blend @ $0.34/in = $22.10

I use Pirate Ship to calculate the best shipping rates to return quilts. Most shipping methods come with insurance, but please indicate below if you would like me to contact you about purchasing additional insurance on your behalf (added to the invoice when work is complete).
